National Stress Awareness Day - How Dolia de-stress

There is an endless list of reasons as to why we can feel stressed, from deadlines at work to our personal aims. Stress can help us to feel motivated to push towards our goals but we must remember to not let this stress escalate. Letting your stress build up can impact your mental and physical health which can cause high blood pressure, stomach issues, anxiety, insomnia and heart problems.

Team Dolia tend to organise after work drinks and even sometimes a nice dinner giving the team a chance to unwind from the day, getting to bond as a team outside of the office environment. Having opportunities like this gives the team a chance to socialise gaining more friendships with each other instead of just a work associate - which really helps with the team dynamics!

The team at Dolia have been sharing the activities they get up to which helps them release and manage their stress.

Running a business can be tough at times and certainly comes with a lot of stress. Being able to manage stress is vital for me to ensure I keep my head clear and focused to successfully run my business and support my team.

For me, running has to be the number one activity to help de-stress and get a clear head. After a hard day at work, I’m often pretty tired but after a good run, I come home feeling more relaxed, energised and in a better all-round mood. I find that running regularly is vital for me to maintain good mental health when having a stressful, high-paced job.

With a growing list of stressful things in the world, from mortgages to wedding planning, my number one activity to keep my stress levels at bay is heading to the gym. Not only do I really enjoy being there and getting in the zone, but I also feel much better in myself for going; I’m more energised, and my head is in a much better & more relaxed state afterwards. If I can’t get to the gym for whatever reason, then a little bit of Xbox does the trick as well!

Everyday comes with its stresses whether they are big or small and they all add up by the time you get to the end of the week. I have found that any form of exercise, from a casual walk in the countryside visiting all the animals or a cardio session at the gym can help clear my head and help me feel organised. This helps me feel more alert, more positive and motivated.

There are a few ways that I like to unwind, particularly if I have had a stressful day. Recently I have gotten into a regular routine of heading down to the gym after work where I will lift weights, do some cardio and finish off with some lengths of the pool, I find this a great way to release any stress that has built up during the day. I also think it's vitally important to have a supportive network of family and friends around you and I will often catch up with them after work. Lastly, I find great motivation in having something planned to look forward to, I really enjoy travelling so for me having an adventure lined up is a great incentive for all the hard work, my most recent trip was to Lisbon.

When I'm feeling stressed at the end of a busy week, one of my favourite things to do is take my dog, Isla, out for a long walk with my family.

I've found that having a dog has helped me be more present, which in turn has had a really positive impact on my mental health. I always finish a walk feeling refreshed—not to mention it's a great excuse to get out of the house and into the fresh air, which is something we all need more of these days!

Life gets super busy sometimes, and one of the only things that tends to de-stress me is organising and cleaning! Being able to make the environment around me comfortable while watching a movie or listening to a podcast definitely helps me unwind after a stressful week. I also like to take care of my plants to help me clear my mind, plus watching them develop and grow is so rewarding!

When life gets super busy, I love to bake! Spending time in the kitchen really helps me to chill out and de-stress. Having something that tastes and smells amazing at the end of it definitely helps too. I also find a good walk in the countryside really helps to clear my mind and boost my mood!

Life can get hectic with two lovely little people to look after, so I really enjoy the times I can get out for a few hours to relax; dinner with friends, catching up with the girls or getting out in nature all help me to de-stress and unwind. I love to exercise a few times a week in the evenings - I feel really lucky to have some beautiful scenery on my doorstep so I try and make the most of it when I can... I've found that when time is tight, even just taking 20-30 minutes for myself here and there can make all the difference to how I feel and gives me the boost I need to keep going.
